Heading to the bright lights of the big city

After sixteen happy and successful years in sunny Otley, we decided to move our full service brand communications agency to the bright lights of Leeds. After searching high and low we fell in love with our new home on Cross York Street – the former notorious nightclub called Northern Light. We especially liked the fact they had a night called Dirty Disco.

Re-locating our 35-strong team was not an easy task. We wanted an incredible space to call home and take the agency onto the next level. The move, to a fast-evolving part of Leeds city centre, is driven by attracting great new talent, as we target ambitious growth and rapid job creation. The team are now happily living across two floors at the newly refurbished Cross York Studios. But the space has come a long way from when we first saw it.

The offices, which were let by Fox Lloyd Jones on behalf of landlords Urban Edge Group, are within an Edwardian building which started life as a Sunday school and was more recently a nightclub. The refurbishment has combined the building’s history with the latest technology. Exposed brickwork and metal-detailing to the original flooring, combined with superfast internet, intelligent air conditioning and energy efficient dimmable LED lighting has created a contemporary workspace for the agency.

The move was a little stressful trying to move 16 years’ worth of gear, 35 people, and still keep the agency trading at a very busy period, but we did it. Have a look at 12 hours’ work!

We are now happily settled in, discovering great coffee shops (If and Wakentake very popular at the moment), splendid pubs and some fab eating spots – with the Markets’ Street Food a regular haunt for all the team.
